(She’s in bifocals now and may need surgery if they don’t work for her.) I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 4 and have had 2 surgeries as an adult, so she inherited my eyesight (crossing and farsightedness). Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that almost every post you write makes me tear up–you seem to take my thoughts and write them so beautifully–it’s amazing. I know what it’s like to want people to see your baby for who she it and not comment about how cute her glasses are but how beautiful she is in general. I always get the “how did you know?” question which I always happily answer, and while most people are very nice, I’ve definitely had rude comments such as “I feel sorry for her” and “don’t you know those bother her nose”–I try to brush them off and definitely respond with an attitude, but ultimately we know our babies are beautiful and their glasses just enhance their beauty and add to their personality.

Thank you for writing so poetically, beautifully and honestly. Know that you’re not alone :)
