]]> A few years back,
a veteran mother told me something that I have never forgotten;
She said that the sign of a true mother is a woman who can spot her child’s runny nose from across the room,
wipe the kid’s snot with her bare hand
and then wipe it off on her own jeans.
At the time,
(long before I first made my entrance into the Land of Mom),
I cringed.
And, the idea of that snotty hand and boogery jeans has stuck with me, ever since.
(Absolutely no pun intended. GROSS.)
So today, when I spotted something green in my baby’s tiny nostril,
I chucked to myself as I wiped her nose with my finger.
Wow. I’m there. I’m so there. I’m a real mom, now.
Until I realized that the aforementioned green thing was actually an errant piece of Veggie Booty.
Oh well.
I may not be there
but at least I’m getting pretty darn close.
