When my daughter got sick this week, I felt terrible and a bit paranoid; I obsessively researched foods to ward off illness and decided to force feed my family the vitamin rich foods that would keep them from getting this terrible strain of the flu.

Yesterday, she was home with a fever, her brother and me, and there was no way I was dragging out two kids to the grocery store. Not in this cold. As I have said before, it is my least favorite activity. So I happily relied on my favorite service ever, Instacart, which I have written about previously.

Within 90 minutes I had two brimming bags filled with very healthy things. And Matthew, my shopper, made sure to call me along the way with any questions (“Would you like your flounder whole or in filets?” “Is it OK that the avocados are not ripe?”). He packed my two grocery bags more neatly than I have ever seen anything packed. It was honestly like one of those video games or a Mondrian painting or something.

As I was waiting for his arrival (as Instacart had alerted me that he was on his way, set to arrive in approximately 25 minutes) I was texting with a mommy girlfriend and I told her that I was waiting for Instacart and she said, “What’s that?” And I was all like “Whaaaaaaaaaaat? You don’t know about this?!?!? THIS is the Unicorn.”

So apparently despite it’s buzz and my previous post, there are still people in this town who are not yet familiar with Instacart. Imagine that.

Well, if you are one of those people, or if you have been hesitant to bite the bullet and try, I have a little treat for you:

Click on the link below and receive $10 off your first order PLUS free shipping (normally it is $3.99 which is pretty amazing in itself).

Rebecca gives you Instacart

Should you take advantage of this offer while it lasts?

All I have to say is

OH KALE YES.

Hey, you guys. I have some great news.

Apparently the universe has not, in fact, been sending me signals that I should avoid being virtuous by eating more healthful superfoods.

Yes, I had three kale-amities, but I was wrong about the common denominator;

You see, I had thought it was the kale.

No, no, no, my friends.

This is what happened when I decided to have an afternoon cup of hot cocoa:

I somehow knocked over my mug, spilling the last half all over my hardwood floors, radiator and white leather Barcelona chairs.

This 4 ounces of hot chocolate had a seemingly disproportionate blast radius.

And while I got on my hands and knees and scrubbed wood and metal and leather, I couldn’t help but to smile.

Because the common denominator is no one food that I now must shun. I am no longer involved in divorce proceedings.

The common denominator is me.

Whenever my friends are going through break-ups, I always give them the same advice: “Don’t let there be a gray area. That is when it gets most complicated and leads to the most pain, ultimately. Just rip off the band-aid and cut it off. It will hurt more now, but I promise it will make things easier.”

Well…

guess who didn’t take her own advice?

This morning, I got weak, and pulled a Kristin on Season Two of Vanderpump Rules when they all go to Cabo for Stassi’s birthday and she shames herself with Sandoval;

Which, in real human speak is, I fell back into things with an ex.

My intentions were noble. It’s New Year’s Eve. I want to get as many nutrients and as much bulk into my body as possible before tonight.

But, evidently, I am a glutton for punishment.

This time our relationship never even got off the ground.

So from now on I am taking my own advice and sticking to it:

No more gray areas. Or, in my case,

green.
