Grateful.

This morning my heart is overflowing. I don't know how to begin. Last night, my husband and I hosted a political fundraiser for a friend who is running for State Representative in the area. It was our first time hosting such an event, and it was incredibly special. It was also the debut of...wait for it...my new band. ...

If I don’t write, I will burst.

So, as you well know, I've been on a little wriatus. I've taken some time off the grid, and it's been nice. Certainly, I've missed chronicling my daily moments of wonder (from the quick photo snapped of a tiny tush in even tinier skinny jeans to a 2-year-old's inventive original song lyrics to the foodshots of ...

Scenes from The Bean/Happy Birthday, Twin!

So, I've been keeping a bit of a secret from you. Actually, it's kind of big... (...at least in this land....the Land of Mom, that is.) 2 weeks ago, I spent my first weekend away WOB (without babe). It's taken me this long to share because a) I had to find the right words b) I had to process all that ...

Far from being over.

This week, I had the privilege of witnessing a magical event; The day was beautiful, crisp and sunny, and my class, as well as many others, enjoyed the weather outside on the playground. As I supervised my children, scanning my eyes back and forth across the tot lot, another teacher called for my attention. She told me to look ...

Music.

Music is playing inside my head Over and over and over again My friend, there's no end to the music Ah, summer is over But the music keeps playing And won't let the cold get me down -Carole King, Music *** This morning, as I spent time flitting about and trying to tidy, I left my daughter to have some quiet play time in ...

Let it do what it do.

This evening, my daughter had some play time with her very best friend. The girls play several times a week, and have done so for the past year. They share family dinners, dance parties, sweet toddler kisses, and a language that is their own. They are so in love. Yet tonight, they were two. Terribly two. My daughter ...

“with glasses.”

originally published on Little Four Eyes Something happened, recently; In fact, many somethings: My baby daughter became a kid; She started to go to school; She got recognized for her glasses. Back in the early days, when her diagnoses and spectacles were so new, my greatest fear was that she’d be judged. I worried that she would be ridiculed and prayed that she ...

To you…

This weekend, we had the distinct honor and unbelievable pleasure of watching our two best friends as they became man and wife. And I can't even write about it now without crying. So, for now, I will just say, here's to you, babes. To you, to life, to crazy love and to your many to-morrows together. We could not love you more.

four eyes

Last week, we found out that our sweet girl needs glasses. She is quite farsighted, in fact. She was having trouble reading her T.S. Elliot Poems at bedtime, so I decided to have her eyes checked. Oh. You know I'm kidding. She can read Preludes just fine. It's her daddy's car magazines that she's having trouble wading through. ...

Ready…Aim…

Today, I experienced my first fire drill of the school year. It just so happened to also be the first fire drill of my students' lives. They are 2. What do you expect? And so, as the alarm blared across the halls and trilled in our little ears, and I tried, frantically, to put little coats on little bodies, and I ...
