Tonight we scampered, hugging, as rain pelted us; You are my shelter.
To you…
This weekend, we had the distinct honor and unbelievable pleasure of watching our two best friends as they became man and wife. And I can't even write about it now without crying. So, for now, I will just say, here's to you, babes. To you, to life, to crazy love and to your many to-morrows together. We could not love you more.
Me: “What should we make for breakfast?”
Husband: "Hmmmmm...Can we melt down all of our candy bars into one big candy soup?" To know him is to love him. And to love him is to buy bigger pants.
(double) Stats
Tonight, I just so happened to have stumbled upon a post I wrote 9 months ago, called stats, in which I detailed her most recent milestones, in exchange for my inability to articulate how I felt about her turning 9 months old. Well, guess what? another 9 months have passed. This week, we celebrated her 18 month birthday. And no, ...
It was bound to happen…
My poor little angel face. She was up during the night with a fever. Boooooooooo. Nothing makes a mama sadder than a sick little chick. But, I can't say our day has been a total wash; We got to lie on the floor together, consumed in fits of giggles; We got to bundle up in fleece jackets and breathe in the ...
Oh, hey! Look at what I just so happened to find in the trash can!
When you become a parent , you learn the art of flexibility. Of compromise. Things will always evolve, inconsistency becomes the only constant, and "right" and "wrong" no longer exist, as all absolutes fade into a spectrum of gray. Except, of course, for this. I overheard my grandparents/A Haiku
They grabbed hands, saying, "This is so worth living for." Then I lost my breath.
Greatness/the past few days
Some things are good. Other things are great. Getting to come home from a wonderful morning of teaching, only to find my sister and daughter playing dress-up together, my little girl decked out in gold chains and over-sized purple shades, feels great. "Sorry, but you can't dress her up as well as I can," my baby sister said to me. "That's ...
four eyes
Last week, we found out that our sweet girl needs glasses. She is quite farsighted, in fact. She was having trouble reading her T.S. Elliot Poems at bedtime, so I decided to have her eyes checked. Oh. You know I'm kidding. She can read Preludes just fine. It's her daddy's car magazines that she's having trouble wading through. ...
Coming back ’round again.
Here I am. I'm back from a wri-atus of sorts. You see, it was nearly a month ago now that I made the decision to close the door to this chapter. Not because I didn't love writing my "ever after". I did. I loved chronicling my days with my little one; I loved the intimate relationship I was able to develop ...
