My daughter hasn’t had a proper nap in 2 days.
This afternoon, after two hours of trying to get her down, I gritted my teeth and hissed that she was driving me crazy.
She popped the pacifier out of her mouth, smiled broadly and said “Hewo, mommy!”

She went to bed early tonight.
She rested her head on my shoulder and told me, “night night.”
She’s been asleep for over two hours.
I wish I could wake her up to play.
I wish I could see a flash of that gap-toothed grin.
And I miss her so much right now that it aches.
Go figure.

I’ve been following your beautiful blog ever since your post about rose-colored glasses from the Little Four Eyes website
My baby girl is 11 months old and has been warring glasses since she was 6 months. (She’s in bifocals now and may need surgery if they don’t work for her.) I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 4 and have had 2 surgeries as an adult, so she inherited my eyesight (crossing and farsightedness). Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that almost every post you write makes me tear up–you seem to take my thoughts and write them so beautifully–it’s amazing. I know what it’s like to want people to see your baby for who she it and not comment about how cute her glasses are but how beautiful she is in general. I always get the “how did you know?” question which I always happily answer, and while most people are very nice, I’ve definitely had rude comments such as “I feel sorry for her” and “don’t you know those bother her nose”–I try to brush them off and definitely respond with an attitude, but ultimately we know our babies are beautiful and their glasses just enhance their beauty and add to their personality.

Your daughter is so lucky to have you as her mother; not only are you protecting her as only you know how, but your ability to empathize with her, through every step of her journey, will be a blessing to both of you.
