So, guys. Friends.

I am obsessed with a few new things, and I would like to share.

First, Pinterest style, obviduh (*Note: word credit goes to DG and his sister, AG, who made up that, the most perfect word. WORD.)

Next, I am really into Zebras. This isn’t such a new new thing, but my realization of just how many zebras are in my home is rather new.

Chai tea. I love chai tea. The milkier and sweeter the better.

And, the song “Fade Away” from Teen Titans Go!

I have no idea what this show is, really, but my husband approved it for my daughter and she is now watching during her allotted time on our electronic devices.

About ten days ago, during a morning I was feeling particularly low and therefore sluggish getting out of bed, I heard her singing from her room. And the song was catchy.

When she came into my bed to cuddle with me just moments later, I asked her about it. And so she told me about “Fade Away” and I looked it up and she sang it to me (shushing me when I tried to join in).

And so lately, when either of us has needed pick-me-up, we have turned to “Fade Away”, which is really a sweet song. It’s kind of perfect. Short and right.

Tonight, I was treated to some bedtime snuggles and permission to videotape my girl singing to me.

You can actually see her trying to push me out of the frame several times. But what you can also see is incredible cuteness. Brimming love.

You may remember that she and I used to have a different anthem before our family changed shape and we welcomed a new member.

But now, we sing to each other, with the words,

The way I feel for you

And every single day I make it through this game called life…

We have changed, and so, now has our song.

We are still two. We still share a bond that is incomparable and indescribable. She is the sweetest thing I know on the face of this earth.

And so, if you are reading this some day, sweetheart, I want to send a message to you:

You can always steal the spotlight from me; it is my pleasure and my joy.

You will always be my number one girl.

Your snuggles will always be my favorite.

And, because sometimes you ask me, let me answer you here and now, to be published on the internet for all of eternity:

I will never ever fade away, darling girl.

We are in this for the long haul.

And for that, I am so, so blessed.
